The white artificial Christmas tree was popular for many years, generally in the 1980’s before falling out of favour some time ago.

White Xmas Tree

However, white Christmas trees have made a significant comeback in the last few years, for the same reasons that the black Christmas tree has become popular – when teamed with black or darker-coloured decorations, the white artificial Christmas tree can provide a striking look in the most contemporary of settings. It seems these are also a throwback to the 1960’s with clean white lines and minimal decoration.

The traditional green tree will always be popular, but the white tree is also in demand because of its versatility – whilst it can be dressed to look ultra-modern, the white tree has long been associated with the traditional Christmas: its white branches are reminiscent of snow and frost, cold winter mornings, snowmen and robins. Thus, the white artificial Christmas tree sits as well in the traditional home as it does in the modern one. A gleaming white tree looks equally lovely when teamed with the traditional Christmas colours of red, green, silver and gold as its does when dressed in the contemporary minimalist colours. A common colour used are pink baubles.

Like most other artificial trees, the white Christmas tree comes in various sizes, styles, and designs. They are available pre-lit and/or pre-decorated, with frosted branches, and of course, there is the lovely fibre-optic white artificial Christmas tree.

Whichever white artificial Christmas tree you choose, it is certain to make a striking focal point over the festive season – there is something both comforting and appealing in having a cool, fresh-looking white Christmas tree in the warmth of the home.

I’m dreaming of a White Christmas’………sang Bing Crosby. Unfortunately, in this country we don’t see many white Christmases these days, but the spirit of a snowy Christmas can be captured and brought into the home with the white Christmas tree. With its sparkling branches reminiscent of frosty winter mornings and cool yuletide evenings, the white Christmas tree is classy and elegant, and provides a striking backdrop for Christmas tree decorations and lights.

White artificial Christmas tree

Whilst many people still favour the traditional green Christmas tree, in recent times there has been a surge in popularity of the white tree. This is down to the nostalgia associated with the white Christmas, and families look to the white tree to bring the magic of this nostalgia into the home – there is something strangely comforting about bringing a cool snowy tree into the warmth of the house.

For obvious reasons, the majority of white Christmas trees are artificial. The only ones that aren’t are spray painted real firs. Many of the tree branches are made from sparkling white tinsel, but some are actually green trees, with frosting or flocking over the branches. These trees look as though they have been caught in a heavy snowfall, and can look very authentic. If you are interested in buying a flocked tree, please be aware that flocking does go yellow over time – this can be delayed by storing the Christmas tree between 25 to 30C degrees and away from areas of high humidity.

If you really want a white christmas tree but prefer fresh rather than artifiical, why not spray its branches white? You can buy artificial snow in cans, and just randomly spraying the branches can be surprisingly effective.
